We looked out the window this morning and what did we see? Juncos are here! Juncos are here! After spending their summer north of our location, the Dark-eyed Juncos have returned to spend the fall & winter season with us! They are a delight to have around the garden and are a very welcome visitor at or below feeders during the cold winter days.
How awesome it was to be contacted by Celine Moreau from CTV London! She asked to do a feature on our little family business that began way back in 1955. It was part of her “London & Area Works” series! We would like to say a huge THANK YOU to Celine for her expertise and to all of you for your support throughout the years…it really is amazing!!
As we move further in to the month of October, the changing colours are becoming even more outstanding! Really hope that you can get out to enjoy them before they are gone!

The fall season is definitely upon us but we are having a return to summer-like conditions for the Thanksgiving weekend! Have a great week everyone!
As we greet the first day of October shortly, this ending to September 2018 has been quite fabulous! Ruby-throated Hummingbirds continue to entertain around the feeders, around the garden, as they prepare for their long journeys ahead! Please continue to keep nectar feeders cleaned & filled…you will certainly notice that they are spending longer times around them as they fuel up!!
You could be anywhere…traveling down a country road, a city street or enjoying the fall season in your garden! Look to the sky, the trees, the fields, the lawns, the hydro lines…and listen; listen to the chatter! At this time of the year, “blackbirds” are gathering in extremely large flocks and it is so amazing to see! If you’re lucky, you might see an awesome murmuration!! Earlier this week, we had very large numbers of Grackles around. There could have been others mixed in as they often migrate together!
The autumnal equinox arrives at 9:54pm this evening…Happy Fall!
Be certain to keep those nectar feeders cleaned & filled….many Hummingbirds continue to be in the area and are, or will be, passing through! They do appreciate that boost for their long journey ahead!

It’s a great time of year to make certain that your nyjer seed feeders are full so that you don’t miss out on any of the antics of the beautiful American Goldfinches! While you may think that many Goldfinches are dining on food in the wild (which they are), they are also enjoying their visits to feeders…as are we! Please make certain to keep your feeders clean for the good health of the beautiful birds!

It might be September but you will most likely find that it is one of the busiest times of the year for Hummingbirds around the garden and around the nectar feeders! Reminder to keep feeders clean & filled for a few weeks yet, as these tiny miracles are building up strength for their long journey south!
It's the Labour Day Holiday Weekend....Wishing everyone a great one! We will be closed Monday, September 3 to observe this statutory holiday.
Be sure to keep nectar & fruit feeders cleaned & filled as Orioles & Hummingbirds continue to be very active around the garden! (And with this heat, change often and/or place in the shade) While you may see Orioles for just a little longer, Hummingbirds will be here to entertain for some time yet!
