RECYCLE YOUR 'REAL' CHRISTMAS TREE!

Richelle Hunter

While you might be looking to dispose of your real tree now,  please consider placing it in your garden as a way of offering protection for the birds & critters from the cold, predators, etc.  While it does provide an excellent spot for them, please be aware that it might also provide a hiding spot for a neighbourhood cat or those very same raptors.  You can either stand it up or lay it down.

PUZZLES!

Richelle Hunter

For many, a favourite family activity during the holiday season was always the completion of a new puzzle!  The box would be opened and puzzle pieces would be spread out over the dining room table.  Many family members would take some moments to try their hand at adding a few pieces to the freshly-started project...what a joy it was when the proper spot was found for that very difficult piece!!  Stop by 1830 Gainsborough Road to check out our selection of puzzles....many nature-themed, all beautiful!!

If you happen to be looking for a simple way to feed the birds, in addition to the feeders that you already have, or if you are just getting started at welcoming birds to your garden, you may want to check out our Seed or Peanut Logs!!  They can be easily hung from a shepherd's hook, etc. and are basically maintenance free!  Holders for the logs are also available. Excellent gift-giving idea too!!

FIRST SNOWFALL!

Richelle Hunter

Temperatures dropped....First snowfall of the season arrived last night!  We've got our heated bird bath set up & feeders filled as we know the cooler weather will bring more beautiful birds to the garden.  They will be searching out reliable food sources now and will know that they can count on us when needed.  Be sure to keep seed ports cleared of snow along with packing or clearing of snow below feeders for those looking for seed on the ground.

RIGHT PLACE, RIGHT TIME!

Richelle Hunter

Pretty much at any given time in our area of S.W. Ontario and beyond, the chances of seeing a Bald Eagle have increased in recent years. It is amazing to think that these beautiful creatures have re-established themselves, calling our area home!

After stopping at a crossroad yesterday, and driving slowly as we pulled away from a stop sign, we noticed a rather large bird in the sky, suddenly realizing it was a Bald Eagle! Luckily, we weren't in a busy place and were able to pull off the road to get a few shots of it in a very distant tree.
