Cardinals....and so many more!

While many may not be fans of the snow, colder temperatures and strong winds....all these common elements of a Canadian winter certainly bring the beautiful birds to the feeders. Yesterday was no exception! With school buses cancelled in some areas & blowing snow an unfavourable condition of the day, the Cardinals & others were putting on a show in and around our bird feeders. We observed three male Cardinals & one female, although other females may have been present ~ They seem to usually arrive in pairs. The entertainment was fabulous as the birds battled the snow & wind but enjoyed spots in the weigela shrub next to our home...the views amazing as they took cover with others that included American Tree Sparrows & Juncos. Also visiting the feeders yesterday were House Finches, Woodpeckers, Blue Jays, Goldfinches, Chickadees, Doves...a great day all round!
